There is a Bible passage where Jesus says, “when you have done it for the least of these, you have done it for me.” The context of this passage is referring to what God values. He values all of His creation and has no distinction between the important, wealthy, powerful or the less fortunate among us. When we take care of those considered the least by our culture’s standards, God says we‘ve done it for Him.
This is a reoccurring theme that has been a great influence in my life. Servant Leadership. My father was such a great example of a servant leader. He pastored a church but his heart was really for hurting people from every socioeconomic background. He wasn’t one to rub shoulders with the influential or build his ministry on hanging out with just the cool people. He was an unsung hero who built his life on “finding the one” who was hurting, no matter what walk of life they came from. Finding the one that the world had discarded or the one who didn’t have anything to give in return. He would share the good news with them of how God’s extravagant love changed his life and He could do the same for them. In his life and ministry, I saw many transformations happen because of his heart for the one. Though he is gone, he lives on through his family.
My history has shaped my future. Extravagant Love Project has been birthed out of finding the one. This burden is not for penance or to stroke any ego. It is a burden that is close to God’s heart. The Bible says, “God is close to the broken-hearted and the poor in spirit, no matter where they come from.”
If you aspire to anything in life, aspire to finding the one. Make a difference. Who knows if that one could change their family for generations to come. Who knows if that one could be the catalyst to change a city, a country or the world!
No effort goes unnoticed by God. He cares for the least of these, rich or poor, and that is the motivation to care. Now I pass this blessed burden on to you. Find the one!
